Are you seeking effective support for a child or young adult in Brighton?

We specialise in helping children (aged 8 and above) and young adults successfully navigate and overcome a wide range of anxieties and challenging issues.

My extensive experience shows that Brighton hypnotherapy can significantly boost their self-esteem and confidence, empowering them to address and thrive amidst the fast-moving challenges of modern life. Children, in particular, often embrace learning new skills and strategies to overcome habits or anxieties that may be causing them distress.

For young adults, having an impartial adult listen with respect and help them formulate practical strategies is incredibly beneficial. We work collaboratively towards achieving the positive outcomes they envision.

As a trained counsellor, I utilize a unique blend of counselling, hypnotherapy, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to achieve lasting results as efficiently as possible. Your peace of mind is paramount: I am fully DBS checked and proudly registered with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council), ensuring professional and ethical standards.

Please note: For children aged 8+, a parent or carer must be present for the initial consultation. Their presence in subsequent sessions can be tailored to the child or young adult's comfort and preference. There is more imformation below on how children's hypnotherapy in Brighton can make a real difference, including what to expect in a session.

How does hypnotherapy work with children?

Hypnotherapy sessions for younger children are shorter and more active. I find that children really enjoy hypnotherapy sessions - their creative imaginations help to bring about effective change quickly. It can be a very positive and empowering experience for them. I use lots of imaginative activities and stories to help engage children during the session and keep them focused. All of these will be tailored so they are age-appropriate and matched to a particular child’s interests, attention span and personality.

How does hypnotherapy work with teenagers?

With teenagers, the process is fairly similar to that used with adults. Hypnotherapy for teenagers/young adults is a safe, effective solution for issues such as exam stress, confidence issues, anxiety, sports performance, eating disorders and even social media use and vaping. There are many issues that don't fit neatly into the above categories. If you don't find the area you are seeking help with please contact me and we can discuss whether I can help.

What to expect:

The initial session can last an hour and your child or teenager/young adult benefits most from giving our work their attention. Whilst it should be fun and relaxing, it is a session aimed at supporting them and helping them begin to make those important changes. I am skilled at helping them relax and even if a child/yound adult might have attention issues we can work round that.  We will focus on identifying the issue your child or teen wishes to change in the session and by introducing some hypnotherapy they can begin to feel a greater sense of control whilst calm and relaxed.

As it’s extremely important that all sessions are client-led the child or teen is always in control and we may take a few sessions to achieve that trust and reassure them that their session is safe, confidential and completely tailored to their needs. Understandably there is often a ‘rush’ for parents to want to fix things as soon as possible and sometimes your child needs a sense of having control over that time line. I do have many young persons/adults who return on a regular basis to ‘ debrief ‘ and help themselves process past experiences and continue to build resilience and a more positive self of self.

“Just before my daughter’s AS exams this year a friend told me about Beth. We had been bracing ourselves for the crippling stress and nerves my daughter suffers before and during exams. Beth is very warm and compassionate and after the first session my daughter felt more relaxed. The strategies Beth gave her to cope began to work and I’m thrilled to say the whole household was a calmer place. My daughter absolutely attributes her 4 A grades to her sessions with Beth. We will be eternally grateful and recommend her time and time again.”
