Beth Lindsay Hypnotherapy Brighton

Children teenagers young adults hypnotherapy

“Just before my daughter’s AS exams this year a friend told me about Beth. we had been bracing ourselves for the crippling stress and nerves my daughter suffers before and during exams. Beth is very warm and compassionate and after the first session my daughter felt more relaxed. The strategies Beth gave her to cope began to work and I’m thrilled to say the whole household was a calmer place. My daughter absolutely attributes her 4 A grades to her sessions with Beth. We will be eternally grateful and recommend her time and time again.”

Hypnotherapy can be successful in helping children and teens overcome many anxieties and issues and help boost their self esteem and confidence to take on the fast moving challenges of life today. I've found that children generally enjoy learning new skills and ways to overcome and deal with habits or challenges that may be causing them anxiety.  Teenagers respond well to having an adult listen to them and treat their problem or issue with the respect is deserves.

As a trained counsellor I use a mix of counselling and hypnotherapy.

I work with children who are 7+ years.  A parent or carer must be present for the initial consultation and may stay throughout any follow up session, depending on what the child or teen prefer.

How does hypnotherapy work with children and teens?

Hypnotherapy sessions for younger children are shorter and more active. I find that children really enjoy hypnotherapy sessions - they have big imaginations that helps to bring about effective change quickly. It can be a very positive and empowering experience for them. I use lots of imaginative activities and stories to help engage children during the session and keep them focused. All of these will be tailored so they are age-appropriate and matched to a particular child’s interests, attention span and personality.

With teenagers, the process is fairly similar to that used with adults. Hypnotherapy for teenagers is a safe, effective solution for issues such as exam stress, confidence issues, anxiety, sports performance, eating disorders. There are many issues that don't fit neatly into the above categories. If you don't find the area you are seeking help with please contact me and we can discuss whether I can help.

What to expect:

The initial session will last an hour and the child or teenagers needs to be able to give our work their attention. Whilst it should be fun and relaxing, it is a session aimed at supporting them so they do need to be able to listen and respond.  We will focus on identifying the issue the child or teen wishes to change and introduce some hypnotherapy so that the child or teen can begin to feel a greater sense of control whilst relaxed.

It's extremely important that the sessions are client-led so that the child or teen is always in control.

I charge £30 a session for teens/children between 7-17 years.
